Rotation

To rotate the scene you hold down Ctrl and then left click and drag at the desired point. To rotate an object you do the same but use one of the Snap tools to snap to an exact point on that object when left clicking, this will keep you stably on that object while rotating:

When rotating in a 2D situation, such as rotating a map to see bars of a graph which go vertically up (This is our 3D capability in 2D GIS), you should hold down Shift then left click and drag at the desired point on the map, this will cause you to snap to the actual map as the rotation point and thereby make rotating more optimal and controlled.
