1.4 How to switch layers on and off the map

Top  Previous  Next

The Layers Description Box (1) allows you to control the layers you have on your map

To switch a layer on so that it displays on the map, tick the box next to the layer name. The ‘eye’ will be open, meaning that the layer is visible on the map

To switch a layer off so that it does not display on the map, untick the box next to the layer name . The ‘eye’ will now be closed, meaning that the layer is no longer visible on the map

The order of the layers in the Layers Description box is important.  The layer at the bottom of the layer description box will draw first and the layer at the top of layers description box will draw last.  E.g. In the example above the Retail Stores (blue points) are on top of Google Roads in the Layers Description box, which means they will overlay/draw on top of the Google Roads layer on the map.  This is important if you have multiple layers ticked on, as layers on top may cover layers below on the map.
