Adding data from a database |

❖ If you want to load data from a database, you can also add that by selecting the Data tab in the GeoLogXL ribbon. Then select Add layer.
❖ In the New Layer window that comes up, you can set the Description for it that will be displayed and added in the Layers Description box.
❖ In this same window in the Data tab, you can set the connection for this layer, and any SQL query that is needed. To demonstrate, I chose SQL Server as the Layer type.
❖ When you have a database entered, you can test your connection by clicking on the Test Connection button and when successful you will get a dialog to state that it is successful. Click OK.
❖ You can also use the Query Builder button (1) to view the data from the database, by opening up the dialog (2) and then selecting or dragging a table across (3) and selecting all or whichever you would like to select, then you Execute. (4) That would show you what your selection query contains (5) before you click OK (6) and make this selection into a new layer.
